ADMINISTRATOR REPORT
Page 4

Mounds View Chiropractic Good idea, as this is a huge problem for us. We
have customers that miss their appointments or are
late due to the confusion.
Abbey Carpet Can’t it be named Coon Rapids Boulevard? That
way it would be the same all the way through into
Anoka. We are OK with MV Boulevard too.
Boy Scouts of America Good idea, we have customers who have problems
finding us. We aren’t sure if we’re supposed to call
the roadway Hwy 10, County 10, County Rd 10, Hwy
10 NW, etc.
AmericInn Good idea—we lose business because people can’t
find us. Would be an expense to change our
marketing materials however.
Lucky’s Gas Station Good idea
McDonalds Good idea
Days Inn Indifferent, we don’t really care, but it sounds like a
good idea.
Arepa Bite Munds View Boulevard would make more sense but
we would like to know because we want our mail
delivered and we need to advertise the correct
address.

Based on the above responses, there seems to be an overwhelming majority in support of
the change, although a few of the businesses indicated some indifference. Only one
business owner expressed a desire to NOT change the name to Mounds View Boulevard.
I have asked Brian to also confirm with the Post Office that it would continue to deliver mail
to residents and businesses during the transition regardless of the address used.

3. Comprehensive Plan Update

Planner Jon Sevald is putting together a framework for how the City
could potentially proceed with our Comprehensive Plan update
process. The update is due to the Met Council by the end of 2018,
which means we need to make some decisions soon as to how the
update will be handled, and to what extent outside assistance will be
needed. The previous update required the assistance of a GIS
consultant (MFRA) and engineering assistance (Bonestroo) which
totaled a little more than $10,000. We intend to budget $20,000 in
2017 for the Comprehensive Plan activities, but it could be more
depending upon additional options the Council may deem important,
such as a community wide survey. Jon intends to make a presentation to the Council at
the June work session to seek input and direction so that we may begin working on the
update.

Respectfully submitted,

________________________
James Ericson
City Administrator
