Mounds View City Council April 25, 2016 <br />Regular Meeting Page 12 <br /> <br />City Administrator Ericson stated there was some concern within the metro area regarding tiny 1 <br />houses and that cities may have no say. He feared that the legislation as submitted would take 2 <br />away the permitting process for cities. He indicated a tiny house would be an additional living 3 <br />unit that would have not to comply with setbacks. He understood the tiny houses would be 4 <br />allowed for six months, with an additional six-month extension. He commented the tiny houses 5 <br />would require septic trucks to service them. He understood the concept appeared to be great, but 6 <br />there were a large number of issues that needed to be addressed. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Mayor Flaherty stated there has been individuals lobbying on behalf of cities. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Council Member Mueller reported the Ramsey County League of Local Government was 11 <br />sponsoring an ethnic panel discussion called “How Can We Unite” on Thursday, April 28th at the 12 <br />Maplewood City Hall at 7:00 p.m. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Council Member Meehlhause stated a neighborhood meeting would be held at the Community 15 <br />Center on Wednesday, April 27th at 6:00 p.m. for the residents living in Area I. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Council Member Meehlhause commented County Road H was now open. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Council Member Meehlhause indicated he attended the Pinewood Elementary production of the 20 <br />Wizard of Oz with his wife and was very pleased by the fine work conducted by these students. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Council Member Meehlhause stated he would be attending an NYFS meeting on Thursday, April 23 <br />28th. 24 <br /> 25 <br />Council Member Meehlhause thanked the Mounds View Lion’s and Boy Scouts for cleaning up 26 <br />County Highway 10 this past Saturday. 27 <br /> 28 <br />Mayor Flaherty reported detours would occur at the intersection of County Road H and Highway 29 <br />10 in May. He encouraged Mounds View residents to be patient and noted the intersection 30 <br />would better serve the City after completion. 31 <br /> 32 <br />B. Reports of Staff. 33 <br /> 34 <br />Finance Director Beer stated the conduit debt request submitted to the City has been dropped. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Public Works Director Erickson reported the Area I contractor would being to mobilize on 37 <br />Monday, May 2nd. He discussed the work that had been completed on County Road H. 38 <br /> 39 <br />1. Administration Report 40 <br /> 41 <br />City Administrator Ericson reviewed the City Council Work Session agenda for Monday, May 42 <br />2nd. The Council was interested in receiving a presentation from Officer Kirsten Heineman. 43
