Mounds View City Council May 23, 2016 <br />Regular Meeting Page 13 <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause commented on the recent lunch he had with Jerry Hromatka and 1 <br />noted he has been asked to serve as the Chair of the NYFS Board. He reported he accepted this 2 <br />position. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Council Member Gunn read a letter in full for the record stating Mounds View would be 5 <br />recognized at the upcoming League of Minnesota Cities Conference as a Step 1 GreenStep City. 6 <br />She believed this was a great honor and she thanked the public works staff for assisting the City 7 <br />in achieving this recognition. She was proud of the fact the City was looking to the future in 8 <br />order to become a more sustainable community. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Mayor Flaherty requested staff look into placing Heart Healthy and GreenStep Community signs 11 <br />on the entrance signs in the City of Mounds View. 12 <br /> 13 <br />B. Reports of Staff. 14 <br /> 15 <br />Finance Director Beer reported his staff continues to work on the 2017 budget. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Public Works Director Erickson reported the contractor was completing the punch list for Area 18 <br />H. He explained the final wear course on Groveland and Ardan would be completed on 19 <br />Wednesday. He provided an update on Area I and noted the contractor has been made aware that 20 <br />work must stop at 7:00 p.m. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Public Works Director Erickson stated he attended a meeting regarding the I-35W/County Road 23 <br />H intersection. He explained the plan was to remove the bridge the weekend of June 3rd. It was 24 <br />noted the work on this intersection and bridge was slated for completion by August 15th. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Mayor Flaherty requested City staff speak with Ramsey County regarding a gateway sign at the 27 <br />County Road H intersection. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Council Member Mueller discussed how the businesses along Program Avenue could be reached 30 <br />through the road construction season. 31 <br /> 32 <br />Council Member Gunn requested an update on County Road I. Public Works Director Erickson 33 <br />provided the Council with an update on the road construction project for County Road I. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Public Works Director Erickson reported he had signed copies of the easements documents for 36 <br />the Silver View Park Trail. The documents were provided to the City Attorney. A round of 37 <br />applause was offered by the Council. 38 <br /> 39 <br />1. Review Research Concerning Accessory Dwelling Units 40 <br /> 41 <br />City Administrator Ericson explained a resident was interested in adding an apartment above a 42 <br />garage. Staff reviewed these plans and from a building standpoint the plans were solid. 43 <br />However, City Code only allows one independent dwelling unit per residential lot.
