Financing Assistance: Steve Dorgan will review with the council the issue and opportunities
here.
Item 5 -Update on Housing Program Grant Applications: Since Steve will be with us, why
not.
Item 6 - Redevelopment Proposals for 6991 Pleasant View Drive: Steve will also go over this.
Item 7-Review of I-35W Corridor Transportation Study and Neighboring Development
Plans: I believe we had this on an earlier agenda and moved it due to time constraints.
Item 8 -Nighttime Parking Restrictions
Item 9 -Review of Council- Staff Retreat: Carl Neu has gotten us the summary of the two
retreat sessions we have had. The council may want to review it and determine an appropriate
course of action. Such an action may include reviewing the report at the next meeting, adopting
a resolution of sorts and so on.
Item 10 - Streets Committee Policies: The Council has received the policy recommendations
from the Streets Committee and should determine the schedule for reviewing those options and
the accompanying public review. The resolution passed by the council earlier this month lays
out the objective of having two public hearings no later than June 28 on the policies to be
changed. Discussion for Monday night can center on the policy proposals themselves, how
current policies would be changed and/or the impact of making those changes.
That's it for the work session. In other news, the paperwork for the Everest agreement is in
process and awaiting your signatures. Kevin Carroll will be leaving the document on your office
desk for signing.
I met with representatives of Blaine and Circle Pines with several MAC officials on Tuesday
afternoon to discuss the sound abatement committee options the city could enter into. The
meeting essentially concluded with MAC drafting up bylaws for such a committee for review at
our next meeting. We generally discussed how many community representatives should be on
the committee and for working purposes concluded two each. A MAC staff member housed at
the airport will be looking to once again establish a phone line for addressing complaints. While
commendatory, the city representatives stressed that personal contact and action would go much
further to satisfy complaints than just a phone line. We have been emphasizing this personal a'
responsibility to them, and to the pilots the mayor and I talked with last week, and that them
must start seeing themselves as part of the community, not just airport guys.
We once again hosted a four city supervisory training session at the MVCC on Wednesday for
Mounds View, Blaine,New Brighton and Coon Rapids city supervisors. It was well attended by
the other cities.
