MEMO TO: MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
FROM: SHARIE LINKE, BANQUET MANAGER
MOUNDS VIEW COMMUNITY CENTER
DATE: APRIL 22, 1999
SUBJECT: FACILITY ACTIVITY UPDATE
JANUARY— JUNE, 1999
The following is an update of the activities at the Mounds View Community
Center Banquet Facility. Attached is a list of activities beginning in January
through June 1999. In this memo, I will elaborate on the types of activities and
give you an overview of Innovative Images marketing and management plan for
the facility.
MARKETING
My intentions in developing the marketing plan for the Banquet Facility was to
target a variety of areas so we don't totally rely on one aspect of the market to
provide income. Therefore, I have identified the following target markets:
• Wedding Receptions
• Banquets —Youth and Adult
• Anniversaries
• Class Reunions
• Corporate Meetings
• Corporate Conferences and Seminars
• Non-profit Organization Events
• Senior Citizen Activities
I have developed marketing materials appropriate for the different target markets
and distributed them through such events as the corporate open houses,
chamber activities, bridal fairs, direct mailings and through networking
opportunities. Advertisements using print media and cable television have been
utilized to increase awareness of the facility. Through all of these avenues, we
have been quite successful in increasing public awareness. Our best
advertisement, however, has been through word of mouth from our very satisfied
customers. This I feel is due to the outstanding customer service and
personalized attention paid to each and every client.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
The customer service philosophy that we have developed is to treat each client
as an individual with respect and professionalism. In other words, we do not
have a "cookie cutter" method of renting our facilities or providing catering
services. Each event is customized to suit that client. This method of operation
is bringing us many new clients, particularly in the corporate area, which is vital
