ZO°d 111101 <br /> City of Golden Valley Salary Range: <br /> POSITION TITLE: Communications Coordinator $41,573 - $45,685 <br /> DEPAR`CMbiT: City Manager <br /> (CCbUNTABLE TO: City Manager, Assistant to the Manager <br /> PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: <br /> To direct and provide assistance to the City Manager and other Department <br /> Heads in the operation of the City's public relations activities including <br /> internal and external newsletters, administration of the City's cable televi- <br /> sion activities and the implementation and operation of a City response system <br /> for handling citizen inquiries and complaints. <br /> MAJOR AREAS OE..ACCOUNTABILITY: <br /> * Coordinates and administers the contract for the production of City <br /> Council meetings on cable television <br /> * Plans, coordinates and prepares a City newsletter and arranges for its <br /> distribution <br /> * Plans, coordinates and prepares monthly employee newsletter <br /> *- Responsible for the production of staff meeting summaries which are sent <br /> to City Council and staff <br /> * Develops informational materials for citizens <br /> * Assists in the production of special presentations using slides, video <br /> and other graphic materials <br /> * Coordinates programming of government access channel and works with <br /> others in the development of cable programming <br /> * Develops and administers a system for responses to citizen inquiries and <br /> the tracking of responses to citizen complaints <br /> * Other duties as assigned <br /> QUALIFICATIONS: <br /> EDUCATION Completion of a four year degree in Journalism, Public <br /> Relations, or Communications <br /> EXPERIENCE Preferred background in the writing and production of <br /> newsletters, press releases and other written materials. <br /> Experience with TV writing or production desirable. <br /> SKILLS Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in <br /> writing in a wide variety of formats and situations. <br /> Ability to work independently.
