•
interoffice
MEMORANDUM
to: Mayor and Council Members
from: Mary Saarion
subject: Recommendation by Parks and Recreation Commission regarding monetary
participation in athletic complex planning and design as requested by the City of Arden
Hills.
date: January 29, 1998
The Parks and Recreation Commission discussed the request by the City of Arden Hills for
contribution of$2,000 for proportional cost of design and plans for a joint city/school district and
athletic association athletic complex. Commissioners expressed concern that to date there is no
dedicated location for such a facility. They expressed a desire to know location as well as have
opportunity to evaluate whether or not the location would be a benefit to Mounds View residents
considering easy access and usership opportunities. Because there are other needs for Mounds
View parks where monies could be spent and benefit Mounds View residents, the Commission
recommended that the City Council hold off on spending the $2,000 until a location is decided
and evaluation as to the benefit in accessibility for Mounds View residents to the chosen location.
