5D
MEMO
To: Honorable Mayor and Council members
From: John D. Hammerschmidt
Subject: Golf Course Positions
Date: April 24, 1998
above
The resolution for golf course personnel is within the approved 1998 budget and golf
course contract. The purpose of switching the Clubhouse Assistant and the Assistant
Superintendent from a seasonal/hourly pay position to a salaried exempt employee is
to attempt to keep on from year to year our quality supervisory personnel. The
employee is also eligible for medical benefits which are also important to retention of
employees. The cost of these benefits are also included in the 1988 golf course
budget and payroll contract.
The Clubhouse Assistant will start at Step 3 retroactive to February 1st and the
Assistant Superintendent at Step 1 will be retroactive to March 21st. These positions
will have a base salary of$18,000 in 1988.
The Clubhouse Manager position being increased from a base of$18,000.00 to a
base of$24,000 at Step 1, retroactive to March 21st ,will also help keep the same
position more competitive with other golf course's and decrease turnover. Once
again this increase is included in the 1988 budget and the payroll contract.
Health benefits will begin their coverage by May 1, 1998.
