labor intense. Chemical usage for ice is discouraged due to the impact on
Silver View Park pond.
Motion was made by Commissioner Long and seconded by
Commissioner Silvis to leave the path uncleared for winter time use of
XC Skiing and sliding. Parks crew will be flooding as soon as the temperatures remain below
freezing. The Parks crew will begin split shifts during school vacation so
that flooding can occur during the night so that rinks can be open during
the day.
Director Saarion also reported disappointment that the City Newsletter is
so late coming out- many November programs had to be canceled because
residents did not receive the Newsletter in time to register before programs
were to begin. This is frustrating because lots of time is put into making
arrangements for programs and it takes just as much time to cancel
arrangements - and there is no benefit to the resident. The City is in pursuit
• of a Newsletter delivery system that is reliable and prompt.
Commissioner Dentz reported on the selection process for the planning and
design group for Highway 10 Corridor. Scott is the Parks and Recreation
representative on this Hwy 10 Corridor Committee. Commissioner Dentz
reported that Hoisington, Koegler Group, Inc are being recommended
because they seemed to have creative ideas as well as good planning.
ADJOURNMENT: Commissioner Long made a motion seconded by Commissioner
Stevenson to adjourn the meeting.
