546. <br /> MOUNDS VIEW PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> MEETING MINUTES <br /> Thursday, January 22, 1998 <br /> City Hall, 6:30 p.m. <br /> CALL TO <br /> ORDER: Chair Silvis called the meeting to order. <br /> ROLL CALL: Commission members present included Chair Silvis, Stevenson, Dentz, and <br /> Starr. Director Saarion was also present. New member MacDonald <br /> stopped by to say that he was on his way to Florida and while he was <br /> unable to attend this meeting; he would be available for attend the February <br /> meeting. <br /> MINUTES: Motion was made by Commissioner Stevenson and seconded by <br /> Commissioner Dentz to approve the meeting minutes of December 4, <br /> 1997. Motion passed unanimously. <br /> Ai1997 ANNUAL <br /> REPORT: The Commission reviewed the 1997 annual report as Director Saarion <br /> reviewed highlights. <br /> 1998 GOALS: Director Saarion reviewed the Department's goals for 1998 and asked if <br /> the Commission wished to develop their own goals. After discussion it <br /> was suggested that the Commissioner's contemplate on goals for 1998 and <br /> re-visit this item at the February meeting. <br /> RICE CREEK <br /> REG. PLAN: Director Saarion introduced the master plan for the Rice Creek Regional <br /> Northern Trail Corridor that Ramsey County is undertaking. This <br /> development plan will benefit Mounds View residents because it will give <br /> opportunity for residents to access the trail/waterway for recreational uses <br /> at the trailhead to be located at Old Hwy 8 and County Road H. The entire <br /> project will provide a trailway system connecting two counties from <br /> Centerville Lakes area to the Mississippi River. <br /> Commissioner Dentz made a motion seconded by Commissioner Starr to <br /> recommend that the City Council approve the Master Plan for the Rice <br /> Creek North Regional Trail Corridor.
