546. MOUNDS VIEW PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES Thursday, January 22, 1998 City Hall, 6:30 p.m. CALL TO ORDER: Chair Silvis called the meeting to order. ROLL CALL: Commission members present included Chair Silvis, Stevenson, Dentz, and Starr. Director Saarion was also present. New member MacDonald stopped by to say that he was on his way to Florida and while he was unable to attend this meeting; he would be available for attend the February meeting. MINUTES: Motion was made by Commissioner Stevenson and seconded by Commissioner Dentz to approve the meeting minutes of December 4, 1997. Motion passed unanimously. Ai1997 ANNUAL REPORT: The Commission reviewed the 1997 annual report as Director Saarion reviewed highlights. 1998 GOALS: Director Saarion reviewed the Department's goals for 1998 and asked if the Commission wished to develop their own goals. After discussion it was suggested that the Commissioner's contemplate on goals for 1998 and re-visit this item at the February meeting. RICE CREEK REG. PLAN: Director Saarion introduced the master plan for the Rice Creek Regional Northern Trail Corridor that Ramsey County is undertaking. This development plan will benefit Mounds View residents because it will give opportunity for residents to access the trail/waterway for recreational uses at the trailhead to be located at Old Hwy 8 and County Road H. The entire project will provide a trailway system connecting two counties from Centerville Lakes area to the Mississippi River. Commissioner Dentz made a motion seconded by Commissioner Starr to recommend that the City Council approve the Master Plan for the Rice Creek North Regional Trail Corridor. Motion passed unanimously.
