JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT <br /> III FOR THE <br /> I-35W CORRIDOR COALITION <br /> The parties to this agreement are governmental units of the State of Minnesota. This <br /> agreement is made and entered into pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, 1994, Section 471.59. <br /> Witnesseth: <br /> WHEREAS, the Cities of Arden Hills, Blaine, Minneapolis, Mounds View, New Brighton, <br /> Roseville and Shoreview(I-35W Corridor Coalition Cities) directly border the Northern Section of <br /> Interstate I-35W (1-35W) and are participants within the Metropolitan Livable Communities Act; <br /> and <br /> 411) WHEREAS,the I-35W Corridor Coalition Cities have commenced a collaborative effort to discuss, <br /> identify and address macro economic development, housing, transportation, contaminated lands, <br /> employee training needs, and other physical land use and community planning issues along the <br /> entire 1-35W, and <br /> WHEREAS, the I-35W Corridor Coalition Cities intend to unitize this information to guide and <br /> support development of essential transportation and infrastructure improvements along the I-35 <br /> Corridor, as well to assist in determining appropriate mass transit policies, and for assisting to <br /> develop a coordinated/collaborative database and GIS system, compatible with metropolitan GIS <br /> system decisions, and <br /> WHEREAS, the I-35W Corridor Coalition Cities desire to utilize this strategic alliance to assist in 1 <br /> marketing and guiding development along the I-35W Corridor, consistent with the intent of the <br /> Metropolitan Livable Communities Act; and the Metropolitan Council Regional Blueprint (1994), <br /> • and <br /> U:\NMMA\sUBCOMM\I-35W\CORPORATIJ-POWER.DOC 1 <br />
