Carl OF REQUEST FOR COUNCIL CONSIDERATION Agenda Section
STAFF REPORT b"15
O LAQ pWW
MS Report Number:
WORKSESSION MEETING DATE
e lr..
tiGW September 30, 1996 Report Date: 9/25/96
,O4"`ess•Partners'4'
Item Description: Consideration of Water Tower Antenna Space for Nonprofit Use
Administrator's Review/Recommendation:
-No Comments to supplement this report
-Comments attached. X
Explanation/Summary(attach supplement sheets as necessary)
Summary:
Staff has received a request from a nonprofit Community Service Radio Club for permission to mount their
antennas on the City's water tower. They will also require inside space for their equipment. This club
provides services to the local weather services, and other emergency services. They have stated that they will
not be able to afford the amount of rent that the City might be receiving from other site users and would also
request that the City pay for the small amount of electricity that their equipment utilizes.
Staff anticipates that their inside space requirements will not affect the City's storage needs in the tower to
any great extent. They would also be required to sign a contract similar to the current and future tenants of the
iiater tower, minus the amount of rent. Further information regarding the Clubs purpose and usage will be
irthcoming.
At this times staff is requesting a decision from Council as to whether a rent free site will be attainable for
this use.
4-"-/ ,-d--/
-clael Ulrich, Director of Public Works
RECOMMENDATION:
0
