• Kathy Bednar helped Park and Recreation with a bike rodeo on Saturday. • CRIME OF THE WEEK----On Sunday night, we responded to a call of four drunk adults. We arrested one of the drunks for assaulting the other. We were called back to the same location three times. Each time we arrested one person until all were in jail. Thanks to the State Patrol for helping. • We sent our new Ford into Warning Systems, Inc. to be converted into a squad car. In the past, we did the conversions in house. We are trying this company to determine if it will be cheaper and quicker. MMMMI COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT • News flash record number of building permits issued at City Hall. Eighty-six (86) building permits were issued in May of 1996. This is the highest number of building permits issued ever!!!! ♦ Jennifer Bergman attended an Affordable Housing Economic Development Financing Expo this week. • All of us in the Community Development Department want to wish Michele luck in the future. She will be greatly missed!!! • The tenants, with the assistance of Legal Aid,have filed suit against the owner of 2901 Hillview to bring the building up to code and make all necessary repairs. As you may recall,the City, especially Jennifer Bergman and Rick Jarson, have been working on bringing this building to Code. • The property owner of 8140 Edgewood intends on appearing before City Council to request that cars may be parked on the lawn, or in this case,his boulevard along Edgewood. He received a letter dated June 3, 1996 requesting he move his automobile onto an improved surface. Section 607.06, Subd. 3ci of the Nuisance Code requires all vehicles parked or stored outside to be parked on an improved surface. The three types of acceptable improved surfaces include a minimum Class 2 gravel, concrete or asphalt (referenced in Section 902.05). Joyce
