THIS IS
FOR THE WEEK OF MAY 28 - 31 , 1996
ADMINISTRATION
• Work continues on the Bel Rae project of course. We are looking to present some
options to the Council on Monday evening. This past week we came to the conclusion
that it did not appear feasible to continue operating the Bel Rae after the City acquires
ownership. This is somewhat disappointing in that we have assumed it would be easier
than it appears. A lot of time is being put into this project now and hopefully after the
work session on Monday, some options will clear themselves up.
• In other business, we are in the midst of interviewing community development director
applicants. I will know better next time not to schedule six hours of interviews on packet
day. I think we will find a good candidate for the job. Next week, it's the finance
director applicants' turns.
• I am also getting caught up on how to budget in Mounds View. Thanks to the department
heads for getting their long term financial plans to me to study. Prior to Monday's
meeting I will be meeting with Mary Tatarek on some things that will help me frame the
budget concerns. Council members will note I have not done anything for the packet for
Monday, but will open discussion at the meeting on this subject. With all the other items
to discuss, serious budget crunching can come at a better time.
• We meet again with LELS on Friday to see where we will be going on their agreement.
Also, I've attended numerous regional meetings on labor relations, the I-35W corridor,
two meetings concerning TIF, and the AMM annual meeting with the Mayor.
• Blaine is waiting for their staff to review the rezoning next to the golf course, so a
decision there will come next week. And finally, the Oak Grove Trust settlement is on
my desk and appears to be ready to put to rest. That's it for now.
Chuck
