t <br /> ATTACHMENT A <br /> CITY OF MOUNDS VIEW <br /> POSITION DESCRIPTION <br /> 411 <br /> • <br /> Class Title: Golf Course Superintendent <br /> Department: Parks, Recreation and Forestry <br /> Date: January 1, 1996 <br /> POSITION SUMMARY <br /> Under the general guidance of the Director of Parks, Recreation and Forestry, this position performs <br /> administrative, supervisory and technical work required in the maintenance and operation of the municipal golf <br /> course. <br /> SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br /> Supervises Club House Manager, golf course part-time, seasonal employees and community volunteers. <br /> ESSENTIAL DUTIES <br /> Develops and maintains a golf course maintenance management system and operating procedure/methods <br /> within limits of departmental policies and procedures. <br /> Plans and organizes the maintenance of greens, tees and fairways including fertilizing, aerifying, top dressing, <br /> seeding, soil conditioning, watering and sodding. <br /> Administers a disease prevention, pest and weed control program including the application of fungicides, • <br /> herbicides, insecticides and anti-snow mold treatments. <br /> Directs a watering and drainage program determining timing and quantity of water and correction of drainage <br /> problems. <br /> Selects and requisitions golf course maintenance supplies and equipment; assures that tools and equipment are <br /> properly maintained and kept in proper working condition. <br /> Assures that assigned areas of responsibility are performed within budget; performs cost control activities; <br /> monitors revenues and expenditures in assigned area to assure sound fiscal control; prepares annual budget <br /> requests; assures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, personnel, materials, facilities, and time. <br /> Determines, calculates and secures the appropriate materials and supplies for specific projects; projects needs <br /> for equipment, materials and supplies; assists in the preparation of specifications, estimates, and bids for <br /> machinery, equipment, and contractor services. <br /> Complies with OSHA, health and environment, and other regulations and completes all necessary records. <br /> Inspects golf course maintenance and improvement services provided by contractors or vendors for compliance <br /> with performance standards. <br /> Supervises and performs maintenance operations such as mowing, raking, and maintenance of golf course <br /> fairways, rough, greens,tee area and other open space areas;repairs of course equipment; oversees and assists <br />
