Reports of Mayor and Council. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Council Member Mueller stated she attended the League of Minnesota Cities Conference June 9 <br />14th through June 17th. She discussed the seminars and events she attended at the conference. 10 <br />She was pleased to report she had completed her three-year term as the Director on the League of 11 <br />Minnesota Cities (LMC) Board. She indicated she would be moving to the Ambassador 12 <br />program at this point. She commended the City on becoming a GreenStep City. 13 <br /> 14 <br />Council Member Mueller reported the Festival in the Park Committee met on June 21st and had 15 <br />several new volunteers attend. She indicated there were still spots open for the car show and for 16 <br />the craft fair. She explained the Festival in the Park Committee would meet again on Tuesday, 17 <br />July 19th at 7:00 p.m. at City Hall. 18 <br /> 19 <br />Council Member Gunn believed the LMC Conference was excellent this year. She suggested the 20 <br />Council members share notes from the sessions they attended at the next work session meeting. 21 <br /> 22 <br />Council Member Meehlhause agreed with this recommendation. He provided further comment 23 <br />on the sessions he attended at the LMC Conference. 24 <br /> 25 <br />Council Member Meehlhause stated Twin Cities Gateway was considering hiring a Sports 26 <br />Management Position. This individual would work to identify ballfields for outside groups 27 <br />interested in hosting a tournament in order to better utilize the local facilities. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Council Member Meehlhause explained he received a call from Bill Urbanski regarding the 30 <br />sound wall on US Highway 10. He confirmed that MnDOT would be building a sound wall on 31 <br />in conjunction with their 35W Managed Lane project. His concern was that MnDOT would be 32 <br />sending a letter to adjacent residents to vote on whether or not they want the sound wall, and 33 <br />residents may not realize the importance of this letter. 34 <br /> 35 <br />Council Member Gunn reported a vote will been taken for all sound wall sections along 35W. 36 <br /> 37 <br />Council Member Meehlhause wanted to make the residents of Mounds View aware that this 38 <br />letter would be coming and to encourage them to vote in support of the sound wall. 39 <br /> 40 <br />Council Member Meehlhause provided an update on the NYFS meeting he attended last week. 41 <br />He explained he would be serving as the Chair of this group for the next year. 42 <br /> 43 <br />Council Member Meehlhause stated he attended the Cable Commission meeting last week as 44 <br />well and an update was provided regarding the Comcast negotiations, which was very positive. 45
