Mounds View City Council June 27, 2016 <br />Regular Meeting Page 5 <br /> <br />assistance of the Setter & Associates, the applications were whittled down to eight candidates 1 <br />and these individuals were given a written exam. After reviewing the written exams five 2 <br />candidates were interviewed by a panel of Mounds View city staff, Council members and Public 3 <br />Safety Director Bob Jacobson. Second interviews were held with the two top candidates before 4 <br />the full City Council who recommended the hire of Nathaniel Harder to the position of Mounds 5 <br />View Police Chief. The Police Civil Service Commission then certified an eligibility list which 6 <br />placed the internal candidate at the top of the list, recommending that the Council promote from 7 <br />within. 8 <br /> 9 <br />Council Member Hull asked who selected the two final candidates. Assistant City Administrator 10 <br />Crane reported this was the consensus of the interview panel. 11 <br /> 12 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Meehlhause. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8602, 13 <br />Approving the Hire of Nathan Harder to the Position of Mounds View Police Chief. 14 <br /> 15 <br />Council Member Meehlhause thanked staff for allowing the entire Council to be involved in the 16 <br />second interview process. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Mayor Flaherty discussed the lengthy hiring process that was followed and believed the Mr. 19 <br />Harder would serve the City well as the next Police Chief. 20 <br /> 21 <br />Council Member Mueller thanked Deputy Chief Menard for his dedicated service to the 22 <br />community. 23 <br /> 24 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 25 <br /> 26 <br />8. CONSENT AGENDA 27 <br />A. Set a Public Hearing for Monday, July 11, 2016, at 7:00 p.m., to Consider the 28 <br />Second Reading and Adoption of Ordinance 921, an Ordinance Opting Out 29 <br />of the Requirements of Minnesota State Statue §462.3593, which Defines and 30 <br />Regulates Temporary Family Health Care Dwellings. 31 <br /> 32 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Flaherty/Hull. To Approve the Consent Agenda as presented. 33 <br /> 34 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 35 <br /> 36 <br />9. JUST AND CORRECT CLAIMS 37 <br /> 38 <br />Finance Director Beer answered the Council's questions related to claims. 39 <br /> 40 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Meehlhause. To Approve the Just and Correct Claims as presented. 41 <br /> 42 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 43
