POSITION DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />Position Title: Permit Community Development Technician <br />Department: Community Development <br />Accountable To: City Administrator Community Development Director <br />Status: Non-Exempt <br /> PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION <br /> Performs the job of Building Permit Technician Duties and provides essential support through by <br />effective performance of administrative, and clerical and technical duties and <br />responsibilities. Provides essential support to and assists Community Development <br />personnel with administrative detail to help ensure efficient and thorough operation of <br />the Community Development Department. Assists Provides contact with customers on <br />matters specifically related to Community Development or other general inquires. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED <br />Works under the guidance and direction of the City Administrator Community Development <br />Director. <br /> <br />SUPERVISION EXERCISED <br />None <br /> <br />ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> <br />• Performs Permit Technician duties as required by explaining Explains permit procedures to <br />applicants, reviews reviewing applications and submitted plans for completeness <br />and accuracy, and answers answering questions relating to building and zoning <br />codes. Oversees and maintains the City’s permit tracking software system and <br />related databases. <br />• Processes and issues building, plumbing, mechanical, and zoning permits after required reviews <br />and approvals have been given while Ensures assuring that the City and or State <br />contractor licensing requirements have been met, and maintains accurate <br />performs record keeping and updating of records relating to permit issuance and <br />associated correspondence. <br />• Maintains orderly and accurate database files for building, zoning, plumbing, <br />mechanical, sewer, water, street opening permits, planning applications, multiple <br />dwelling registrations and licenses, contractor licenses, development <br />agreements, administrative offenses, citations, developer deposits, and other <br />department-related database files as necessary. <br />• Completes various monthly, quarterly and annual reports for City records and for <br />other various local, regional, state and federal agencies. <br />• Prepares Composes and/or transcribes neat and accurate correspondence, memos, <br />letters, reports and related documents materials as appropriate or as directed by <br />City Administrator department personnel according to provided information and deadlines.
