Mounds View City Council November 14, 2016 <br />Regular Meeting Page 10 <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller asked how the City would fund the body cameras. Police Chief Harder 1 <br />indicated the Police Forfeiture Fund would be used to purchase the body cameras. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Mayor Flaherty questioned how many body cameras the department would be purchasing. Police 4 <br />Chief Harder proposed purchasing eight body cameras and charging stations. He reported the 5 <br />cameras took approximately eight hours to charge. 6 <br /> 7 <br />Mayor Flaherty inquired how the department would manage the body camera data. Police Chief 8 <br />Harder stated the League of Minnesota Cities had a great model policy that would be posted on 9 <br />the Police Department’s website. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Public Works Director Erickson reported he received a letter from a resident on Dickens Lane 12 <br />regarding the water main break within an easement in September. He discussed the situation in 13 <br />detail with the Council and explained a large amount of sand was washed onto neighboring 14 <br />properties. He stated the City completed a significant amount of clean up but a resident did put 15 <br />in a claim against the City. He explained this claim was reviewed by the League of Minnesota 16 <br />Cities and was denied. However, a request was made again by the resident to have the Council 17 <br />review the matter. He reviewed several photographs with the Council and asked for comments 18 <br />or question. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Mayor Flaherty thanked Public Works Director Erickson for provided the Council with 21 <br />photographs of the property. 22 <br /> 23 <br />Finance Director Beer believed that the City went above and beyond the required cleanup and 24 <br />explained the City was not negligent in this case. 25 <br /> 26 <br />Mayor Flaherty requested staff reach out to this resident to see where she was at and report back 27 <br />to the Council via memo. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Council Member Mueller understood that the City could now electronically monitor its wells. 30 <br />Public Works Director Erickson reported the SCADA system could conduct this type of 31 <br />monitoring. 32 <br /> 33 <br />Acting City Administrator Crane thanked all of her staff for their assistance with the recent 34 <br />election. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Finance Director Beer stated Nate Danielson has taken another position with YMCA and his last 37 <br />day with the City would be Friday, November 18th. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Mayor Flaherty wished Nate Danielson well and asked what the replacement schedule would be. 40 <br />Finance Director Beer indicated staff has already begun working to fill this position. 41 <br /> 42 <br />C. Reports of City Attorney. 43 <br /> 44 <br />City Attorney Riggs had nothing additional to report. 45
