He discussed how the new CAD system was accurately 1 recording information for the Police Department. He reviewed the Towards Zero Deaths (TZD) 2 saturation events that took place during the third quarter. He was pleased by the department’s 3 efforts and the reduced number of drunk drivers on the roadways. 4 5 Police Chief Kinney provided comment on the school resource officer placement along with the 6 events that took place for National Night Out. He reported school supplies were collected from 7 Mounds View residents and were distributed to the local elementary schools. He then discussed 8 the public appearances Niko made during the third quarter. It was noted the gun safety course 9 was well attended again this fall. 10 11 Council Member Gunn thanked the local students for their generous donations to K9 Officer 12 Niko. 13 14 Council Member Mueller was proud that the City had 31 parties registered with the Police 15 Department for National Night Out. 16 17 Mayor Flaherty questioned if the school resource officer (SRO) was over tasked. Police Chief 18 Kinney commented the SRO was extremely busy but believed he could handle the current 19 workload. He discussed the partnership the department had with New Brighton. 20 21 City Administrator Ericson corrected a misstatement he made during just and correct claims 22 regarding the COBRA repayment made to a prior employee. 23 24 City Administrator Ericson explained a local catering business was interested in leasing the 25 kitchen facility at the Community Center. He requested comment from the Council on how to 26 proceed. The Council supported the lease and recommended this be brought back with further 27 information. 28 29 City Administrator Ericson reviewed the Council’s upcoming meeting schedule and worksession 30 agenda. 31 32 City Administrator Ericson reported Police Officer Anderson would be retiring after 29 years of 33 service to the City of Mounds View. 34 35 Mayor Flaherty stated he Ramsey County League of Local Government would be meeting on 36 November 20th at 6:00 at The Mermaid to provide a recap on the recent election. 37 38 C.
