These include calls such as building searches, vehicle searches,
narcotics detection and in one particular instance, assisting with a suicidal female who was
refusing to drop a weapon.

In the first three months of 2015, the Mounds View Police Department K-9 team participated
in several public appearances. One appearance included the taping of an interview for local
cable television and another was the annual Mounds View Town Hall meeting held on March
30, 2015.

Also in March, Officer Erickson and Niko competed in their second annual narcotics detection
trials held in Stillwater. They competed with several other K-9 teams from region 18 of the
United States Police Canine Association. Niko received very high scores and attained
recertification in narcotic’s detection.

Officer Erickson and Niko are proud to serve the citizens of Mounds View and they are an
integral part of the Mounds View Police Department.
