9

News from the Department - 1st Quarter 2015

The department has transitioned to a new county wide Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and
Records Management System (RMS) in March 2015. This effort has been years in the
planning, research and implementation with both systems “going live” on March 24-25, 2014.
As a review, the CAD system is a combination of the hardware, software and services the
Ramsey County Communications Center utilizes to provide dispatching and communications
service to individual cities within Ramsey County. The Records Management System (RMS)
is a program where all police reports, records and data are maintained.

This transition to the CAD system occurred through all of the agencies in Ramsey County
while the RMS change was made by the Mounds View Police Department as well as the New
Brighton Police Department, Maplewood Police Department and the Ramsey County Sheriff’s
Department. The adjustment and training process for these systems continues as staff
becomes more accustomed in the use of these systems.

The police department hired two police officers to fill vacancies within the organization. On
February 2, 2015, Riley Solz and Andrew Ronning began employment as new police officers
in the city. We are pleased to have both officers join the city and wish Officer Solz and Officer
Ronning long and successful careers!

Riley Solz Andrew Ronning
