Mounds View City Council May 26, 2015 <br />Regular Meeting Page 4 <br /> <br />Council Member Meehlhause thanked staff for bringing this code amendment to the Council for 1 <br />consideration. 2 <br /> 3 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 4 <br /> 5 <br />E. Resolution 8418 for Approval to Purchase 9 Automated External 6 <br />Defibrillators (AED’s). 7 <br /> 8 <br />Police Chief Kinney requested the Council approve the purchase of nine automated external 9 <br />defibrillators (AED’s). He explained that these units would be used to equip the City’s police 10 <br />squads and City buildings. He reported that $14,000 was budgeted for the expense of the new 11 <br />AED units. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Council Member Mueller asked where the new AED’s would be placed. Police Chief Kinney 14 <br />indicated the units would be placed at City Hall, the Community Center, the Public Works 15 <br />Building and Random Park. The remaining units would be placed in police squad cars. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Mayor Flaherty questioned if any of the existing AED units have been used. Police Chief Kinney 18 <br />explained that several of the units were used at emergency cardiac arrest calls. He estimated that 19 <br />AED’s were used once or twice a month by officers. 20 <br /> 21 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Meehlhause. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8418 22 <br />for Approval to Purchase 9 Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s). 23 <br /> 24 <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 25 <br /> 26 <br />F. Resolution 8420, Authorizing Professional Engineering Design and 27 <br />Preparation of Bidding Documents for CSAH 10 Trail Segments 6 & 11. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Interim Public Works Director Peterson requested the Council authorize professional engineering 30 <br />design and the preparation of bidding documents for CSAH 10 trail segments 6 and 11. He 31 <br />reviewed the corridor improvements that have been made along County Road 10, noting that the 32 <br />County would be assisting with a portion of the expense for this project. He discussed the 33 <br />locations of trail segments 6 and 11 and recommended Bolton & Menk be approved as the 34 <br />qualified vendor. 35 <br /> 36 <br />Council Member Mueller asked if the completion of these segments would complete the entire 37 <br />trail along County Road 10. Interim Public Works Director Peterson reported there would still 38 <br />be a small portion of trail that would still need to be completed. 39 <br /> 40 <br />Council Member Meehlhause understood that the engineering would be completed in 2015 and 41 <br />the trail work would be conducted in 2016.
