Item No: 07C <br />Meeting Date: August 10, 2015 <br />Type of Business: CB <br />Administrator Review : ____ <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Desaree Crane, Assistant City Administrator <br /> <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8442, a Resolution Appointing a Planning and <br />Zoning Commissioner to Fill One Open Position <br /> <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />Jessica Birken resigned as a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission. Staff advertised <br />for Ms. Birken’s seat, and received two (2) applications. The Planning and Zoning Commission <br />reviewed the attached applications at their last meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />Discussion: <br /> <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed the applications and voted by ballot at their last <br />meeting on Wednesday, August 7, 2015. Six (6) members of the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission were present. The results were the following: <br /> <br /> Justin Klander 3 votes <br /> Gary Quick 3 votes <br /> <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission were not able to come to a consensus on who to <br />recommend to this commission. According to the Mounds View City Code §401.02, subd 1, the <br />Planning and Zoning Commission shall consist of seven (7) members from the resident <br />population of Mounds View, other than person elected to a public body, to be appointed by the <br />City Council, and based on the recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission, from <br />the applications submitted. The Planning and Zoning Commission is requesting that the City <br />Council appoint either Justin Klander or Gary Quick to fill Ms. Birken’s vacated seat. <br /> <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council review the attached applications, and make the <br />determination on whom to appoint to the Planning and Zoning Commission.
