5 <br /> <br /> <br />School Resource Officer (SRO) <br /> <br />The SRO performs various duties on a daily basis at Edgewood Middle School which include <br />the following: <br />• assisting with traffic flow in front of the school, <br />• ensuring the school is secured each morning, <br />• providing a police presence in the hallways during passing times and in the cafeteria <br />during lunch times, <br />• investigating crimes that occur on school property, <br />• assisting patrol by performing follow-up on cases that involve students or school property <br />• assisting with lock down, fire, and severe weather drills, <br />• serving as a member of the school crisis team, <br />• providing police support to school dances and after school activities, <br />• assisting at Pinewood Elementary/The Bridges as needed, <br />• being a liaison between the school and the police department, <br />• forming positive relationships with students, <br /> <br />Some additional services the SRO provided at the school this quarter included: <br />• Maintaining the school radio communications system <br />• Deescalating out of control students <br />• Communicating with juvenile probation officers <br />• Operation of the school surveillance system <br />• Locating truant/missing students <br />• Locating and recovering stolen bikes, electronics, and other property <br /> <br />In the second quarter, the SRO assisted with the following notable incidents (seven total incident <br />reports generated: <br />• 6 theft reports <br />• 2 theft arrests <br />• 1 medical assist <br />• 2 criminal damage to property reports <br />• 6 lost/recovered property reports <br />• 27 disorderly conduct/disruptive student incidents <br />• 4 disorderly conduct arrests <br />• 2 obstructing a police officer arrests <br />• 1 gross misdemeanor stalking arrest <br />• 2 assault reports <br />• 1 assault arrest <br />• 4 harassment/reports <br />• 2 truancy incident <br />• 8 student transports <br />• 1 domestic assault report <br />• **Seven juveniles were arrested during the second quarter, and there were two <br />referrals to the diversion program.** <br />
