6 <br /> <br />Highlights/Recap from 2nd quarter 2015: <br /> <br />• The SRO was the decoy for K9 Niko during a demonstration for the “Jobs With Dogs” <br />class. Officer Erickson and Niko gave demonstrations on obedience, suspect <br />apprehension, and article searches. <br />• The SRO escorted and helped supervise the entire 8th grade class on their end of the year <br />field trip to Silverview Park. There were no incidents during the trip and the kids all had a <br />great time. <br />• The SRO assisted with recovering two bicycles that were stolen from a local bike shop. <br />The bicycles were brought to school by the suspects the day after they were stolen. <br />• The SRO provided additional supervision and security during all after school activities and <br />parent communication nights. The district has requested a stronger law enforcement <br />presence during all after school programs. <br />• The SRO provided focused patrol in the neighborhoods surrounding the school at the <br />request of students while they walked home. <br />• The SRO has focused efforts on diverting “at risk” students away from making decisions <br />with negative consequences through one on one discussion and educational videos. <br />• The SRO assisted with several lockdown and fire drills to prepare the students/staff for <br />potential emergencies. <br /> <br />Training Report <br /> <br />The following classes are those that various officers attended to improve skills during the <br />second quarter: <br /> • Workplace Violence/Active Shooter Training • Defensive Tactics <br />• Use of Deadly Force • Drugs That Impair Driving <br />• Use of Force Legal Issues • Active Shooter Training <br />• Mobile Access Certification • Annual K-9 Trials <br />• Performance Management <br />• Leadership Program for Supervisors-Phase 1 <br />• Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association Annual Conference <br />• Diversity Sensitivity/ Creating a Positive Work Environment <br />• Decision Making Handgun Shoot <br />• Hotel Criminal Interdiction <br />• Implementing Accountability <br />• Basic Sexual Assault Investigations <br />• Vacant Home Training <br />• Animal Hording and 4th Amendment Training <br />• Minnesota Association of Housing Code Officials Membership Training <br />• Security Assessment for Law Enforcement Personnel <br />• Critical Thinking in the Workplace <br />• What to Expect From an Officer Involved Shooting <br />• Standardized Field Sobriety Testing <br />• Occupant Protection Usage and Enforcement <br />• Minnesota Police & Peace Officers Association Annual Conference and Training <br />
