8 <br /> <br />Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) <br /> <br /> <br />The spring/ summer months is generally a busy time for the Ramsey County Traffic Safety <br />Initiative (RCTSI). The RCTSI partners with the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety in the <br />Toward Zero Deaths program. In the 2nd quarter, the Mounds View Police Department <br />participated in 5 DWI, one distracted driving and one seatbelt enforcement detail. <br /> <br />The first DWI saturation was held on April 10th and was hosted by the Saint Anthony Police <br />Department. Sergeant Zender participated in this event. He conducted 12 traffic stops but did <br />not locate a drunk driver. <br /> <br />The second DWI saturation occurred on May 2nd and was hosted by the Saint Paul Police <br />Department. Officers Meyer, Garland and Schultes participated in this event. They made 37 <br />traffic stops during the event. No drunk driver arrests were made, but Officer Meyer did make <br />a warrant arrest. <br /> <br />The third DWI saturation was conducted on May 8th and was hosted by the Ramsey County <br />Sheriff Department. Sergeant Zender and Officer Erickson worked this event. They made 23 <br />traffic stops and Sergeant Zender made a warrant arrest. <br /> <br />The fourth DWI saturation was held on June 20th and was hosted by the Saint Anthony Police <br />Department. Sergeant Zender participated in this event. He conducted 15 traffic stops but did <br />not locate a drunk driver. <br /> <br />The fifth DWI saturation occurred on June 27th and was hosted by the White Bear Lake <br />Police Department. Officers Meyer, Berling, Garland and Schultes worked this event. They <br />made 35 traffic stops and Officer Schultes made a DWI arrest. <br /> <br />Over the dates of April 13th- 18th, Mounds View Officers participated in the “April Distracted <br />Driver Enforcement” detail. We had 4 officers work this event over the course of the detail (4 <br />hour shifts each). Our officers conducted 34 traffic stops resulting in 10 citations. <br /> <br />Over the dates of May 18th- 31st, Mounds View Officers participated in the “May Seatbelt <br />Enforcement” detail. We had 8 officers work this event over the course of the detail (4 hour <br />shifts each). Our officers conducted 67 traffic stops resulting in 28 citations. <br /> <br />
