Position Description | Mechanic Page 3/4 <br /> Keep accurate records of time sheets, work assignments, inspection and maintenance activities, <br />repair materials, purchase receipts, and as-built information in hard copy and electronic formats. <br /> Obtain and keep current all licensures and certificates required for position. <br /> Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of <br />work, including co-workers, other departments, other agencies, vendors, and the public. <br /> Communicate effectively, in English, both verbally and in writing. <br /> Pass a medical physical examination and drug test. <br /> <br />TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED <br /> Common and specialized hand and power tools used for mechanical repairs. <br /> Mechanical equipment including hydraulic lifts, jacks, vices, air compressors, welders, tire <br />balancer, filter crusher, and pressure washer. <br /> Diagnostic and inspection tools and equipment including vehicle code readers, multimeters, and <br />pressure gauges. <br /> Office tools and equipment including telephone, copier, personal computer, calculator and mobile <br />radios. <br /> <br />PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT <br />The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of <br />those physical demands that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential <br />functions of this job and those work environment characteristics that an employee encounters while <br />performing the essential functions of this job. The employee must <br />frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. <br />Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and <br />the ability to adjust focus. <br />Work Environment: <br />While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts <br />and equipment and is exposed to vibration and wet and/or humid conditions. The employee <br />occasionally works outdoors and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or <br />caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
