10 <br /> <br /> <br />Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) <br /> <br /> <br />The summer/fall months are generally a busy time for the Ramsey County Traffic Safety <br />Initiative (RCTSI). The RCTSI partners with the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety in the <br />Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) program. Over the months of July through September, the <br />Mounds View PD participated in 6 DWI saturations, one speed and a Labor Day DWI <br />enforcement detail. <br /> <br />The first DWI saturation was held on July 3rd and was hosted by the Ramsey County Sheriff <br />Office. Sergeant Zender worked this detail and conducted 11 traffic stops, one of which <br />resulted in a DWI arrest. <br /> <br />The second DWI saturation occurred on July 10th and was hosted by the North Saint Paul <br />PD. Officers Meyer, Demarest and Martin worked this detail conducting 22 traffic stops. No <br />drunk drivers were detected, but 7 traffic citations were issued. <br /> <br />The third DWI saturation was held on July 18th and was hosted by the Roseville PD. Officer <br />Martin worked this detail and conducted 9 traffic stops and issued 2 citations for speeding. <br /> <br />The fourth DWI saturation occurred on August 1st and was hosted by the Ramsey County <br />Sheriff Office. Officer Knitter was not able to locate a drunk driver. However, he was able to <br />make 17 traffic stops and issued 6 citations. <br /> <br />The fifth DWI saturation was hosted by the New Brighton PD on August 8th. Officers Meyer <br />and Martin worked this detail. They conducted 16 traffic stops and issued 3 citations. <br /> <br />The Saint Paul PD hosted the sixth DWI saturation on August 15th. Officer Martin was <br />assigned this event and issued a citation for “driving after suspension” while conducting 11 <br />traffic stops. <br /> <br />Over the dates of July 10th- 26th, Mounds View PD officers participated in the “July Speed <br />Enforcement” detail. We had 8 officers work this event over the course of the detail for a total <br />of 32 hours. Our officers conducted 59 traffic stops resulting in the following citations: 28 for <br />speeding, 1 for drive after suspension/ revocation and 2 for miscellaneous violations. <br /> <br />Over the dates of August 21st – September 7th, Mounds View PD officers participated in the <br />“Labor Day DWI Enforcement” detail. We had 7 officers work this event over the course of the <br />detail for a total of 45 hours. Our officers conducted 54 traffic stops. Officer Schultes made <br />the lone DWI arrest during the course of the event. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
