Item No: 07E <br />® NDS TMeeting Date: March 10. <br />�/t 2014 <br />Type of Business: Council Business <br />City of Mounds View Staff Report <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: James Ericson, City Administrator <br />Item Title/Subject: Resolution 8227 Approving City Council Priorities for 2014 <br />Introduction: <br />The City Council and department heads met at the Community Center on Feb 11, 2014, to <br />review its previously adopted goals and priorities and to discuss new goals and priorities for <br />2014. From this meeting, a new list of goals and priorities was created, and the Council <br />reviewed the draft language at its work session on March 3, 2014. Slight modifications were <br />suggested and recommended to be brought back for formal adoption by the Council. <br />Discussion: <br />The following represents Council priorities for 2014: <br />• Consider targeted property acquisitions on a case-by-case basis to eliminate blight <br />and to encourage redevelopment and land assembly <br />• Actively recruit new businesses, encourage business development and work with <br />existing businesses for purposes of retention and expansion <br />i Partner with-MnDOT and Ramsey County to update County Road 10 sign references <br />to reflect "Northtown Boulevard" <br />• Focus on corridor maintenance, aesthetics, landscaping and appearance; pursue <br />completion of corridor trailway segments and linkages to promote regional <br />connectivity <br />• Create and promote the redevelopment vision associated with Crossroad Pointe and <br />pursue other redevelopment opportunities <br />• Explore technology enhancements to expand access and availability to residents and <br />businesses <br />• Promote programs and opportunities to eliminate blight and improve neighborhoods <br />• Investigate renewable energy and energy efficiency improvements; pursue Green - <br />Step City designation <br />• Re-evaluate service delivery and hours of operation <br />• Provide for greater security in parks and City buildings, and <br />• Plan for the design and reconstruction of the Public Works maintenance facility. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends approval of Resolution 8227 adopting the Council's priorities for 2014. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />J Cuwu <br />James Ericson <br />City Administrator <br />
