EXHIBIT A
2014 City Council Priorities
On February 11, 2014, the Mounds View City Council and members of the management team held a
facilitated planning and goal -setting retreat at the Mounds View Community Center. The Council
reviewed and reaffirmed the City's Mission, Vision and Values Statements and reviewed the goals and
priorities from 2013 as a starting point for determining how best to focus its future efforts.
The City of Mounds View provides a variety of core and essential services to its residents, property
owners and business owners. Each of these service delivery areas is an acknowledged and supported
priority and each supports the City's Mission, Vision and Values statements. Recognizing that important
services such as Code Enforcement, Street and Infrastructure Improvements, the Community Center,
Parks, Public Safety, Sewer and Water delivery are ongoing priorities which strengthen and enhance the
City's livability and social fabric, the City Council has chosen to focus particular attention this year to the
following identified priorities:
• Consider targeted property acquisitions on a case-by-case basis to eliminate blight and to
encourage redevelopment and land assembly
• Actively recruit new businesses, encourage business development and work with existing
businesses for purposes of retention and expansion
• Partner with MnDOT and Ramsey County to update County Road 10 sign references to reflect
"Northtown Boulevard"
• Focus on corridor maintenance, aesthetics, landscaping and appearance; pursue completion of
corridor trailway segments and linkages to promote regional connectivity
• Create and promote the redevelopment vision associated with Crossroad Pointe and pursue
other redevelopment opportunities
• Explore technology enhancements to expand access and availability to residents and
businesses
• Promote programs and opportunities to eliminate blight and improve neighborhoods
• Investigate renewable energy and energy efficiency improvements; pursue Green -Step City
designation
• Re-evaluate service delivery and hours of operation
• Provide for greater security in parks and City buildings, and
• Plan for the design and reconstruction of the Public Works maintenance facility.
References to County Road 10 in the above priorities reflect the City Council's ongoing belief that the
corridor remains a key component in the City's ability to grow and prosper well into the future. A healthy
and vibrant commercial corridor, easily accessible and aesthetically pleasing, will be Mounds View's
foundation upon which our other amenities will be strengthened and reinforced.
(Approved March 10, 2014, Res. 8227)
