Now, six months later, after extensive conceptual framing and analytical work that was
focused on building a solid foundation for future policies and implementation efforts that address the new
goal, staff are excited to present their initial findings and policy themes to the Board during a workshop
on September 10
It is the intent of this workshop to:
1. Unveil a conceptual framework that depicts how to simultaneously account for regional, county,
city and neighborhood dynamics associated with cultivating economic prosperity and addressing
concentrated areas of financial poverty;
2. Present a set of foundational data that can guide future conversations about economic prosperity
and addressing concentrated areas of financial poverty;
3. Identify a list of key policy themes warranting specific focus, discussion and possible future
action; and
4. Listen to Board dialogue focused on desired next steps for the County and how to fully engage the
broader community in efforts that advance the goal.
Previewing the Workshop Presentation
Generating future economic prosperity requires supporting regional efforts when the County is similarly
situated with the rest of the region. However, it also requires the implementation of more local strategies
when faced with situations where the County is uniquely situated within the region. Finally, as the
County within the region containing the highest proportion of concentrated areas of financial poverty,
Excellence a Respect e Diversity
Printed on roweled paper with a minimum of Ip%p%f consumeroontent
00
