BBC Donation Acceptance
Feb 24, 2014
Page 2
Y Partners
Y Partners is the funding mechanism whereby families in need are provided assistance or full
scholarships so that they are able to take part in community programming offerings at the
Community Center.
MV Community Resource Center
BBC contributions helped fund the employment of a Community Social
Worker (CSW) to coordinate services at the Community Support Center; a faith, service, school
collaboration at Pike Lake Ed Center, in order to prevent and divert homelessness and housing
instability in our local region. (Additional information attached for Council reference.)
AED Replacements in Squad Cars
The AED units were originally donated by Medtronic in 2006, and they are approaching the end
of their designed life—the manufacturer has put us on notice that they will discontinue service
and maintenance on these units at the end of the year. We have sixteen units total (one in each
squad plus one at City Hall, the Community Center, one of the park buildings and the public
works garage.) Each AED unit costs $1,600.
Mobile Dental Clinics
BBC has supported this service for the last few funding cycles, providing dental services to
residents in need living in the manufactured home communities and elsewhere. The service is
provided by "Medical Teams International." Each mobile dental clinic costs $650.
Senior Wellness Program
Requested by the MVCCNMCA, funding will allow us to offer a program designed for 60+
individuals looking to make a change to their lifestyles. Small group, Personal Trainer lead,
sample foods and demos of exercises aimed at their skill and need level would be provided.
Recommendation:
Attached for your consideration is Resolution 8214, a resolution which accepts the
donation from Bethlehem Baptist Church in the amount of $18,285 and authorizes the
distribution of the donations according to the Church's recommendations.
Respectfully submitted,
James Ericson
City Administrator
