Mounds View City Council December 9, 2013 <br />Regular Meeting Page 5 <br />1 Advertisement for Hiring a Maintenance Worker in the Public Works <br />2 Department. <br />3 <br />4 Public Works Director DeBar stated last week the Council discussed restructuring of the Public <br />5 Works Department due to the retirement of Steve Dazenski. The options available to his <br />6 department were discussed in detail and Staff recorr vended the Council approve a position <br />7 description and authorize the advertisement for hiring a maintenance worker. He explained the <br />8 position would be posted internally for five days prior to looking for candidates externally. He <br />9 reported the position would be funded in the same manner as the Parks Supervisor position. <br />10 <br />11 Council Member Mueller questioned if new candidates would have to be a licensed plumber. <br />12 Public Works Director DeBar stated this was not the case, however, it would benefit the City of <br />13 the candidate had plumbing and electrical experience. <br />14 <br />15 Council Member Mueller expressed conceal that the City was seeking a candidate that would <br />16 have too many specialties. Public Works Director DeBar commented that many of the Public <br />17 Works Department employees enjoy the diverse work offered by the department. <br />18 <br />19 Mayor Flaherty asked 'now the position: would be posted. Public Works Director DeBar stated <br />20 the position would be posted as a maintenance worker with an area of specialty being parks. <br />21 <br />22 MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Mueller. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8189, <br />23 Approving a Position Description and Authorizing Advertisement for Hiring a Maintenance <br />24 Worker in the Public Works Department. <br />25 <br />26 Ayes — 4 Nays — 0 Motion carried. <br />27 <br />28 (Council Member Hull was absent for the vote) <br />29 <br />30 8.
