To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 8296, 5 <br />Approving the Final Plat for Anna Place, a 5-lot Subdivision at Eastwood Road & Ardan 6 <br />Avenue. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Mayor Flaherty expressed concern with the heavy equipment that would be used by the 9 <br />contractor and recommended that he be cautious when on the City’s brand new streets. Planning 10 <br />Associate Heller commented the City could require an escrow or deposit with the right-of-way 11 <br />permits. 12 <br /> 13 <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 14 <br /> 15 <br />F. Resolution 8300 for Authorization to Advertise and Create an Eligibility List 16 <br />to Initiate the Police Officer Hiring Process. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Police Chief Kinney requested the Council authorize the advertisement and creation of an 19 <br />eligibility list for the hiring of a new police officer. He stated the department has an opening 20 <br />after the resignation of a probationary officer. He reported the past eligibility list was dissolved 21 <br />by the Police Civil Service Commission. He reviewed the hiring process that would be followed 22 <br />by staff and recommended the Council authorize advertisement for the police officer vacancy. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Council Member Hull requested further information on the hiring timeline. Police Chief Kinney 25 <br />explained the hiring process would take approximately three months and the officer would then 26 <br />need to complete the 14 week field training course. He anticipated the new officer would not be 27 <br />on their own for approximately six months. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Mayor Flaherty asked if applicants were questioned about prior military experience. Police Chief 30 <br />Kinney stated the Police Department’s application awarded prior military with veteran’s 31 <br />preference points. 32 <br /> 33 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Meehlhause.
