6 <br /> <br />August 16th was the Festival in the Park celebration. This was the largest demonstration that <br />our K-9 unit does throughout the year. There were over 100 people in attendance watching <br />our officers and K-9 unit working together in various aspects of apprehension techniques. <br /> <br />In September, there were 6 total deployments: <br /> <br />• 4 area searches <br />• 1 for assisting in making an arrest <br />• 1 meet and greet. <br />The police department expresses appreciation to the many residents who have made <br />donations to the K-9 program. If you would like more information about the K-9 unit or would <br />like to make a donation to help cover the cost of training and care, please contact the police <br />department at 763-717-4070. <br /> <br /> <br />Training Report <br /> <br />Officers attended the following training courses over the three summer months of 2014: <br /> <br />• National Basic School Resource Officer Course <br /> <br />• Automatic External Defibrillator Training <br /> <br />• Legal Update <br /> <br />• Crime Scene Processing for Law Enforcement <br /> <br />• SWAT/Sniper Training <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Toward Zero Deaths (TZD) <br /> <br /> <br />The summer/fall months are generally a busy time for the Ramsey County Traffic Safety <br />Initiative (RCTSI). The RCTSI partners with the Minnesota Office of Traffic Safety in the <br />Toward Zero Deaths program. In the 4th quarter, the Mounds View PD participated in 4 DWI <br />saturations, one speed and a Labor Day DWI enforcement detail. <br />
