Mounds View City Council March 11, 2013 <br />Regular Meeting Page 6 <br /> <br />Council Member Mueller indicated on Saturday, March 9th the Minnesota Women in City 1 <br />Government met and discussed the upcoming League of Minnesota Cities Conference. 2 <br /> 3 <br />Council Member Mueller noted the Mounds View Business Council would be meeting again on 4 <br />Wednesday, March 13th at the Community Center at 7:30 a.m. 5 <br /> 6 <br />Council Member Mueller reported the Festival in the Park Committee would meet again on 7 <br />Tuesday, March 19th at City Hall at 7:00 p.m. She encouraged those interested in volunteering 8 <br />with the event to attend or to call her for further information. She stated the committee was in 9 <br />need of someone to head promotions and fundraising. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Council Member Mueller indicated on Thursday, March 21st the Ramsey County League of Local 12 <br />Government would meet at the Conservation District Building in Arden Hills. The focus of this 13 <br />meeting was “Being Ready” and the importance of emergency management. The presenter 14 <br />would be Judd Freed. She encouraged the entire Council to attend. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Council Member Meehlhause recommended Economic Development Specialist Steinmetz 17 <br />review the 2013 economic development priorities with the EDC. He was pleased that the 18 <br />Highway 10 corridor would be an ongoing issue of discussion for the coming year. He suggested 19 <br />these discussions also be carried over to the EDA. 20 <br /> 21 <br />Mayor Flaherty agreed with these recommendations. 22 <br /> 23 <br /> B. Reports of Staff. 24 <br /> 25 <br />City Administrator Ericson noted on Saturday, April 13th the Mounds View Community Center 26 <br />would be hosting the Spring Fling from 10:00 a.m. to noon. The City anticipated approximately 27 <br />200 residents would tour the facility that day and learn of services available in the community. 28 <br /> 29 <br />Mayor Flaherty recommended Staff post a quorum for this event. He indicated he was proud of 30 <br />the work being completed at the Community Center on behalf of the residents. 31 <br /> 32 <br />City Administrator Ericson stated there would be a closed session meeting on March 25th to 33 <br />allow the Council to evaluate the performance of the City Administrator. 34 <br /> 35 <br />City Administrator Ericson explained the North Metro I-35W Coalition has requested the City 36 <br />rejoin their coalition. The expense to rejoin this group would be $1,000. He questioned how the 37 <br />Council would like to proceed with this item. 38 <br /> 39 <br />Council Member Gunn questioned who would represent the City at the coalition meetings. City 40 <br />Administrator Ericson stated this would have to be determined by the Council at a later date. 41 <br /> 42 <br />Council Member Hull asked what benefits the City of Mounds View gained by being a part of 43 <br />this coalition. City Administrator Ericson commented the multi-city coalition gave Mounds 44 <br />View a voice, while also allowing for further communication with MnDOT on the City’s needs. 45
