11 <br /> <br /> <br />These police officer positions were filled with the hiring of Officer James Demko and Brian <br />Smith on March 15, 2013. We are most excited to welcome each of these new officers to our <br />agency as they begin 14 weeks of training with our field training officers on staff. <br /> <br /> Officer Brian Smith <br /> <br /> Officer James Demko <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation held its 32nd Annual Climb for the Cure to defeat Cystic <br />Fibrosis on February 2, 2013. The climb was held at the IDS Center in Minneapolis. The <br />purpose of this event is to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in an effort to find a <br />cure. Climbers needed to climb all 50 floors (1280 steps) to the top of the IDS Center to <br />complete the challenge. There were over 200 Police, Fire, and EMS personnel who <br />participated in the Public Safety Challenge Climb with a total of 1,500 climbers that <br />participated in the whole event. Mounds View Police Sgt. Ben Zender and Mounds View <br />Police K9 Officer Nick Erickson participated in the Public Safety Challenge Climb. The MVPD <br />officers raised money to participate in this event and were team members of the Minnesota <br />State Patrol Team. <br /> <br />
