It was noted the current mower was unsafe for use as 26
it could no longer idle properly. The expense to replace the transmission was between $2,000-27
3,000. He indicated the 72-inch mower was a necessary piece of equipment as it was used to 28
mow 150 acres of City parks, boulevards and on City-owned properties. He commented the 29
mower was not set to be replaced until 2017. He stated funds from the A-B Tractor could be 30
used for this purchase. Staff recommended the current mower be traded in at this time and that a 31
new mower be purchased. 32
33
Mayor Flaherty stated this mower posed a huge liability to the City given its current condition. 34
He recommended the mower not be used this spring and supported the purchase of the new piece 35
of equipment. 36
37
Council Member Mueller asked if the new mower would have the same hydrostatic transmission. 38
Steve stated this was the case. 39
40
MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Hull.
