Mounds View City Council May 13, 2013 <br />Regular Meeting Page 13 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />Council Member Mueller noted the Mounds View Community Theater would be putting on Les 2 <br />Miserables this summer. She encouraged the public to take part in this event. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Council Member Mueller indicated Discover Aviation Days would take place on June 1st and 2nd 5 <br />at the Anoka-Blaine Airport. 6 <br /> 7 <br />Council Member Mueller stated the Ramsey County League of Local Government would meet 8 <br />again on Thursday, May 30th at the St. Paul Schools Administrative building at 7:00 p.m. 9 <br /> 10 <br />Council Member Mueller noted the Mounds View Business Council met last Wednesday 11 <br />morning and discussed the upcoming road construction season with MnDOT. 12 <br /> 13 <br />Council Member Meehlhause thanked Finance Director Beer for his analysis of the impact on 14 <br />property taxes with TIF District No. 1 being decertified. 15 <br /> 16 <br />Council Member Gunn explained Saturday, May 18th was Irondale High School’s First Colorful 17 <br />Splash Dash 5K Walk/Run to benefit the schools food shelf. She encouraged all to take part in 18 <br />this fun event. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Mayor Flaherty noted he would be attending the North Metro Mayor’s Association meeting on 21 <br />May 15 th at Bunker Hills. He then thanked Officers Demko, Smith and Schulte for joining the 22 <br />City’s Police Department. 23 <br /> 24 <br />Council Member Mueller commended Mayor Flaherty for his nicely written letter to Jim Tolas. 25 <br /> 26 <br />B. Reports of Staff. 27 <br /> 28 <br />City Administrator Ericson announced Staff attended the TCAAP remediation meeting last week 29 <br />and a summary was provided to Council. He explained he attended an Airport Commission 30 <br />meeting recently and the control tower would be closed June 15th. He indicated he would keep 31 <br />the Council appraised on this situation. 32 <br /> 33 <br />City Administrator Ericson then discussed upcoming agenda items in further detail. He noted a 34 <br />Five Cities meeting would be held next week. 35 <br /> 36 <br />1. Quarterly Report – Police Department. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Police Chief Kinney reviewed his first quarter report for the Police Department with the Council. 39 <br />He commented arrests were down this quarter, which was a direct correlation with the reduced 40 <br />number of officers with the department. He anticipated this would increase after the newly hired 41 <br />officers were on their own. 42 <br /> 43 <br />Police Chief Kinney commented theft remains the top crime in the City.
