A great place t® raise your family and ®®syo @easiness.
As business owners Karl Schurr
and Dick Roiling know, Fridley isn't just
about business—irs also a great place
to live.
Dick Refiling originally moved his
family to Fridley to be "closer to our
church." lie found the community so
welcoming that he brought his
company, Micro-Molic, to town as
well.
"I did it backwards," Schurr,.
president of Minco Products,
acknowledges: "First I moved my
business here, then my family."
Either way, both families—and
companies—have thrived.
Fridley has long been one of the
metro area's most livable and family-
oriented communities.. Its superior
schools, extensive parks system, range
of recreation opportunities, and
affordable housing have spurred
growth and assured a strong and
stable work force.
- the city is rich in amenities, from
shopping to churches to entertainment.
Conveniences include a network of
restaurants, health clubs, hospitals,
banks, clinics, and daycare centers.
Life and work in Fridley are set
against a beautiful natural backdrop.
Dominating the city's recreational
resources are its miles of frontage
along the Mississippi River. Anoka
County's Riverh ont, Islonds of Peace,
Locke, and Monomin parks are major
magnets for boating, picnicking,
hiking, and bird watching.
Fridley offers a range of housing,
from starter homes with affordable
prices under $100,000 to executive
housing in areas such as Heather Hills
and Innsbruck with prices up to
$300,000. Morethan 90 percent of all
houses fall in the range of $150,000
and under. It's not a city many are'
anxious to leave, either. Some 37
percent of Fridley's residents have lived
in the city for 20 years or more. Of
Fridley homeowners, 36 percent are
employed in white-collar jobs, with a
median yearly household income of
$40,700.
(lousing demand in the area
remains high. Rottlund Homes recently
completed the largest development of
residential homes to be built in Fridley
Realtor David Ryan of Caldwell
Banker Northeast Suburban describes -
Fridley as having a"small-town
atmosphere" that is safeandfriendly.
"The quality of people, the
neighborhoods, and the schools are all
big draws," he says. In addition, Ryan
considers Fridley's park system to be
"without comparison" in the North
Metro area. .
Fridley has more acres of park and
recreation land than any other
northern suburb, with 37 parks
ranging in size from a half acre to 127.
acres. The city contains a total of 490
acres of. parks, about 7 percent of its
total land area.
Nature Center, is full of birds and
wildlife, with readily accessible paths,
an interpretive center with a staff of
