In addition, Ryan <br />considers Fridley's park system to be <br />"without comparison" in the North <br />Metro area. . <br />Fridley has more acres of park and <br />recreation land than any other <br />northern suburb, with 37 parks <br />ranging in size from a half acre to 127. <br />acres. The city contains a total of 490 <br />acres of. parks, about 7 percent of its <br />total land area. <br />The largest park, Springbrook <br />Nature Center, is full of birds and <br />wildlife, with readily accessible paths, <br />an interpretive center with a staff of <br />naturalists, bike trails, and picnic <br />facilities. Moore Lake Park, a 14 -acre <br />park containing swimming beach, <br />fishing pier, picnic areas, and <br />playgrounds, also offers a unique <br />boardwalk winding through 7.6 acres <br />of sand dunes. Meandering through <br />acres of dedicated park land is Rice <br />Creek, another of the ciVs great - <br />natural attractions which runs through <br />the heart of The city. <br />Many of the parks Include extensive <br />public facilities for sports and other <br />activities, plus an extensive bikeway <br />system.
