Mourns ViF:w <br />of Mounds View Staff <br />Item No: 4 <br />Meeting Date: May 6, 2013 <br />Type of Business: Work Ses ion <br />Administrator Review: <br />To: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />From: Heidi Steinmetz, Economic Development Specialist <br />Item Title/Subject: Discuss County Road 10 Corridor Plan <br />Below are several updates regarding the revitalization of the County Road 10 corridor. <br />Explore Corridor Overlay Zoning District - Planning Commission <br />The City Council's 2013 Priority Statement includes the following action step: "Explore <br />creation of a Corridor Overlay Zoning district to promote ideals of vertical, mixed use <br />development, minimized building setbacks, parking in rear and more desirable design <br />guidelines". <br />On April 17t", the Planning Commission discussed their support for the following changes <br />for properties/developments along County Road 10: <br />• Reducing the acreage size requirements for PUD developments <br />• Reducing the front setbacks for parking and building <br />• Amending the sign code to only allow monument style signs, and possibly require all <br />pole signs to be removed (a property would have about 10 years to make the <br />change) <br />• Possibly requiring every new development or significant change to go a PUD -like <br />process, even if the acreage is less than the required size to be an actual PUD <br />Improve Corridor Aesthetics - City Hall Message Board and Trash Pickup <br />The City Council's 2013 Priority Statement includes the following action step: °,Improve and <br />enhance visual corridor aesthetics through sustainable landscaping and pedestrian -friendly <br />streetscaping". <br />New Sign <br />A new City Hall message board would improve corridor aesthetics, especially if a new base <br />is installed similar to the one shown below. <br />
