Mounds View City Council April 9, 2012 <br />Regular Meeting Page 6 <br /> <br /> 1 <br />Council Member Hull stated there were carryover funds available for Festival in the Park, along 2 <br />with an additional $2,200. He questioned if the City could work with The Mermaid to ensure 3 <br />that $2,200 was used in the proper manner to meet the grant specifications. City Administrator 4 <br />Ericson stated staff could work with them on this issue, but recommended The Mermaid 5 <br />Convention Center be stricken from the Resolution. This would allow staff the flexibility to 6 <br />market the event and work with the local radio station on specific ads. 7 <br /> 8 <br />Mayor Flaherty expressed concern with the City taking over the advertising. City Administrator 9 <br />Ericson indicated if staff were to control the funding, the funds would be used in an efficient 10 <br />manner while meeting the grant requirements. 11 <br /> 12 <br />Council Member Gunn supported this recommendation as it would allow the City to promote the 13 <br />event in the most effective manner to draw spectators to the registration. 14 <br /> 15 <br />Mayor Flaherty suggested the Council vote on the Second Friendly Amendment. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Council Member Mueller WITHDREW THE SECOND AMENDMENT. Council Member 18 <br />Stigney agreed to withdraw his second to the amendment motion. 19 <br /> 20 <br />Council Member Stigney suggested the words “funds to The Mermaid Event Center” and 21 <br />“registration event” be stricken from the Resolution and replacing registration event with 22 <br />activities in Mounds View. 23 <br /> 24 <br />THIRD AMENDMENT: Stigney/Mueller.
