6 <br /> <br />• Firestarting <br />• Sexual harassment <br />• Dialing 911 for fun <br />• Custody issues with their parents <br />• Bullying <br /> <br />Further examples of duties the SRO became involved in are: <br />• Consultation with the county attorney office regarding school laws <br />• School security cameras surveillance review <br />• Transported students home or to the out of school suspension program <br />• Assisted child protection with interviewing students <br />• Deescalated out of control students <br />• Recovered lost property <br />• Conducted home visits with the deans to truant students <br />• Assisted deans with locker searches <br /> <br />A student injured himself while playing basketball when he tripped and struck his head <br />against the wall. The SRO was there immediately and provided spine stabilization until <br />medics arrived. The SRO has been meeting regularly with students that the deans have <br />identified as habitual truants. Several of those students have shown significant improvement <br />to their attendance since beginning those meetings. <br /> <br />The SRO acted as a liaison between the police department and the school for the dog house <br />project. The Edgewood students constructed a hand built dog house out of cedar and <br />presented it to the police department for the new K-9. <br /> <br />In the 4th Quarter, the SRO attended trainings which included the MN Juvenile Officers <br />Association annual conference in Duluth. At the conference, the SRO was trained in <br />gathering evidence from internet crimes such as Facebook harassment. During the <br />conference, he also received training in emerging drug trends, human trafficking, teen killers, <br />and dealing with special education students. In March, the SRO attended training where he <br />was taught techniques for actively diffusing students in crisis. <br /> <br /> <br />Training <br /> <br />Officers of the Mounds View Police Department attended the following training courses <br />during this past quarter: <br /> <br />• The Ethical leader <br />• Leadership for Reducing Organizational Stress in Law Enforcement <br />• Low Light Shoot <br />• Minnesota Juvenile Officers Conference <br />• The Principles of Supervision
