Res. 7961, Auth. Stantec to Perform Engr. Design and Prepare Bidding Documents for Area F
Page 2
A geotechnical and environmental evaluation of subsurface conditions is customarily performed for any
project with land disturbing activities. These evaluations provide recommendations to be incorporated
into the engineering design of pavements, utilities, and infiltration basins. Public Works recommends
authorizing up to $10,000 for this work. If authorized, City engineering staff will solicit fee proposals
from qualified firm(s) and oversee the work.

Recommendation:
Staff recommends that the City Council consider adopting the attached resolution authorizing
Stantec Consulting Services Inc. to perform engineering design services and prepare bidding
documents for Area F of the Street and Utility Improvement Program. Doing so will allow the
project to stay on course for construction next year. Funding for these services have been
budgeted for 2012 under TIF District #1 (Acct. 410-4650-7050) for $474,027.

Respectfully submitted,

Nick DeBar - Public Works Director

Attachments:
Resolution 7961
Street & Utility Improvement Program Map
