Mounds View City Council May 14, 2012 Regular Meeting Page 4 Intoxicating Liquor License for ABC Liquor located at 2840 County Highway 10 until Tuesday, 1 May 29, 2012. 2 3 Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 4 5 Mayor Flaherty expressed frustration with the liquor license holders in the City of Mounds View. 6 He questioned how much time the business owners had to return their application and fees before 7 this evening’s meeting. Assistant City Administrator Crane indicated the applications were sent 8 out certified mail in April, which gave the business owners 30+ days to complete the paperwork 9 and return the documents to the City. 10 11 Mayor Flaherty thanked the owners that properly completed their paperwork and encouraged the 12 other liquor license holders to do their due diligence to keep their licenses in compliance with all 13 City Code requirements. He suggested there be a fine or fee for those not working with the City 14 Staff and the suggested deadline. City Administrator Ericson stated there was a penalty and the 15 liquor license would lapse if no action was taken by the business owner. He stated the Council 16 could investigate a 10% penalty for those missing the established deadlines. 17 18 E. 7:25 p.m. Public Hearing, Resolution 7942, Consider Approval of an Off Sale 19 Intoxicating Liquor License for Vino & Stogie’s located at 2345 County Road 20 H2. 21 22 Assistant City Administrator Crane stated this was a public hearing for Vino & Stogie’s off sale 23 intoxicating liquor license. Proper notice was sent out by the City to surrounding properties 24 within 300 feet of Vino & Stogie’s and published in the City’s official newspaper. She indicated 25 property taxes were current, along with all City utilities and the Mounds View Police and Fire 26 Department issued a satisfactory report. The City had not yet received the criminal background 27 check. Staff recommended approval of the off sale intoxicating liquor license pending receipt of 28 a satisfactory criminal background check. If approved, the liquor license would be in effect from 29 July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013. 30 31 Mayor Flaherty opened the public hearing at 7:29 p.m. 32 33 Hearing no public input, Mayor Flaherty closed the public hearing at 7:29 p.m. 34 35 MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Hull.
