The truck would also need a front plow and lift gate, which would cost 2 <br />$6,225.49 and $3,286, respectively. 3 <br /> 4 <br />Public Works Supervisor Peterson indicated the current five-year plan shows Truck 135 being 5 <br />replaced in 2012 with a replacement fund of $30,000. The cost for the truck and equipment 6 <br />would be $36,712.82 plus tax. He explained the Public Works Department was estimating to 7 <br />receive $4,000-5,000 off the sale of the current Truck 135, which would assist in offsetting the 8 <br />cost of the vehicle. Staff recommended the purchase of the 2012 Ford F350 truck with 9 <br />equipment. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Council Member Hull questioned if there were any other mechanical problems with Truck 135. 12 <br />Public Works Supervisor Peterson stated the transmission was the only concern at this time. He 13 <br />explained that the transmission could be rebuilt, but the vehicle only had so much life in it. 14 <br /> 15 <br />Council Member Mueller asked if the new truck was proposed to have any rust proofing. Public 16 <br />Works Supervisor Peterson was uncertain, but stated he would look into this with Midway Ford. 17 <br /> 18 <br />Council Member Stigney questioned why the City was moving from an F250 to an F350 pickup 19 <br />truck. Public Works Supervisor Peterson stated the F350 was needed for the new lift gate. 20 <br /> 21 <br />Council Member Stigney inquired if the City would receive more money for the old pickup truck 22 <br />if it was sold on the League of Minnesota Cities site. Public Works Supervisor Peterson 23 <br />indicated this was option, but the City has had good luck with sale prices at auction. 24 <br /> 25 <br />Mayor Flaherty was in favor of Staff looking into additional rust proofing, particularly on the 26 <br />bottom of the vehicle. 27 <br /> 28 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Mueller/Gunn. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7962, 29 <br />Approving the Purchase of a 2012 Ford F350 Pickup Truck from Midway Ford. 30 <br /> 31 <br />Council Member Mueller thanked the Public Works Department for assessing the City’s needs, 32 <br />working with Finance Director Beer and for bringing forward a conservative bid.
