<br />HAZARD MITIGATION GOALS AND OBJECTIVES <br />Ramsey County Multijurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan | July 2012 5-5 <br />Range of Mitigation Options. The suggested mitigation options for tornadoes in Ramsey County <br />provide enhanced sheltering, advanced warning, and as well as options for more sustainable facilities. <br />Mitigation Strategy for Tornadoes: <br /> Mitigation Goal #1 - To minimize the losses of life and property due to tornadoes in Ramsey <br />County. <br /> Mitigation Goal #2 - To develop policies and plans to handle reconstruction from wind and storm <br />damage. <br /> Mitigation Goal #3 - To provide backup generators in identified critical facilities throughout <br />Ramsey County. <br /> Objective #1 - To provide advanced severe weather warning and to protect the residents and their <br />property from the effects of tornadoes in Ramsey County. <br /> Objective #2 - To provide safe rooms or community shelters needed for mobile home parks, <br />recreation/open areas. <br /> Objective #3 – To provide safe rooms at all schools, including new and retrofit installations. <br /> Objective #4 - To provide information on benefits of tie-down straps for mobile homes. <br /> Objective #5 - To minimize the wait time for residents and business owners to get building permits <br />and inspections of construction activities. <br /> Objective #6 - To provide automatic emergency power in identified critical facilities throughout <br />Ramsey County. <br />Action Steps: <br /> Encourage retrofitting of existing and future public schools with special high wind resistant films for <br />doors and windows. <br /> <br />Responsible Organization School districts within Ramsey County <br />Coordinating Organization Ramsey County Emergency Management and Homeland Security <br />Time Line 2012 <br />Funding Sources General funds, FEMA grants <br /> Identify facilities throughout Ramsey County that need backup generators to provide emergency <br />power in case of power outages due to tornadoes/storms. <br /> <br />Responsible Organization Ramsey County Emergency Management and Homeland Security <br />Coordinating Organization Ramsey County Emergency Management and Homeland Security <br />Time Line 2012-2013 <br />Funding Sources General funds and/or State and federal grants <br /> Identify community areas (parks, recreation areas) and facilities (schools, government buildings) that <br />are vulnerable to tornadoes and provide tornado safe rooms to each area and facility. <br />
