EXECUTING THE PLAN
Ramsey County Multijurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan | July 2012 6-3
 Comprehensive plans
 Strategic plans
 Capital improvement plans
 Growth management plans
 Ordinances, resolutions, and regulations
 Continuity of operations plans
Opportunities to integrate the requirements of this plan into other local planning mechanisms will
continue to be identified through future meetings of the Hazard Mitigation Steering Committee and
through the five-year review process as required by FEMA.
The primary means for integrating mitigation strategies into other local planning mechanisms will be
through the revision, update, and implementation of each jurisdiction’s individual plans that require
specific planning and administrative tasks (for example, plan amendments, ordinance revisions, capital
improvement projects, etc.).
The members of the Hazard Mitigation Steering Committee will remain charged with ensuring that the
goals and strategies of new and updated local planning documents for their jurisdictions or agencies are
consistent with the goals and actions of the Ramsey County Multijurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan
and will not contribute to increased hazard vulnerability in Ramsey County or its participating
municipalities
During the planning process for new and updated local planning documents, such as a comprehensive
plan, capital improvements plan, or emergency management plan, Ramsey County will provide a copy of
the Ramsey County Multijurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan to the appropriate parties and recommend
that all goals and strategies of new and updated local planning documents are consistent with and support
the goals of the Ramsey County Multijurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan and will not contribute to
increased hazards in the affected jurisdiction(s).
Although it is recognized that there are many possible benefits to integrating components of this plan into
other local planning mechanisms, the development and maintenance of this stand-alone hazard mitigation
plan is deemed by the Ramsey County Hazard Mitigation Steering Committee to be the most effective
and appropriate method to ensure implementation of local hazard mitigation actions at this time.
All organizations will incorporate the Ramsey County Multijurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan into
existing plans in an effort to mitigate the impact of future disasters.
