Mounds View City Council February 28, 2011 <br />Regular Meeting Page 7 <br /> <br /> Ayes – 5 Nays – 0 Motion carried. 1 <br /> 2 <br />F. Resolution 7750, Approving the Hire of Nathan Garland to the Position of 3 <br />Police Officer. 4 <br /> 5 <br />Police Chief Kinney recommended the Council hire Nathan Garland to the position of Police 6 <br />Officer filling a vacancy in the agency. He provided a brief history stating the department has 7 <br />two vacancies at this time due to retirements. The Civil Service Commission met on February 8 <br />23rd and approved an eligibility list. The top three candidates were recommended with the 9 <br />number one candidate being Nathan Garland. 10 <br /> 11 <br />Mayor Flaherty questioned the work history of Nathan Garland. Police Chief Kinney indicated 12 <br />this would be Mr. Garland’s first position as a police officer. 13 <br /> 14 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Gunn/Mueller. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7750, 15 <br />Approving the Hire of Nathan Garland to the Position of Police Officer effective March 2nd. 16 <br /> 17 <br />Council Member Stigney recommended the Police and Fire Department further review cost 18 <br />savings measures for the City. 19 <br /> 20 <br /> Ayes – 4 Nays – 1 (Stigney) Motion carried. 21 <br /> 22 <br />8. CONSENT AGENDA 23 <br /> 24 <br />Council Member Stigney requested that Item 8B be removed from the Consent Agenda for 25 <br />further discussion. 26 <br /> 27 <br />Mayor Flaherty requested that Item 8A be removed from the Consent Agenda for further 28 <br />discussion. 29 <br /> 30 <br />A. Resolution 7748, Approving Parking Restrictions on Jackson Drive Between 31 <br />County Road H2 and County Road I. 32 <br />B. Resolution 7749, Approving the Purchase of Supplies for Grouped Mailboxes 33 <br />for the 2011 Street and Utility Improvement Project – Area D. 34 <br /> 35 <br />A. Resolution 7748, Approving Parking Restrictions on Jackson Drive Between 36 <br />County Road H2 and County Road I. 37 <br /> 38 <br />Mayor Flaherty requested Staff further explain the parking restrictions along Jackson Drive. 39 <br />Public Works Director DeBar stated the City had to follow the State Aid design standards for 40 <br />Jackson Drive in order to be eligible for State Aid funding. The resolution was a formality. 41 <br /> 42 <br />MOTION/SECOND: Flaherty/Stigney. To Waive the Reading and Adopt Resolution 7748, 43 <br />Approving Parking Restrictions on Jackson Drive Between County Road H2 and County Road I. 44 <br /> 45
